Early morning on 1st Jan 2023, I was lucky enough to get some decent shots from Khok Kham--Bird Center vicinity, Samut Sakhon, Thailand. This year we found only two spoony in this area, so it's quite challenging to get them. Anyway Spoony came quite close and stay for a while, it was a bright/sunny morning and I'm very pleased with the result !. Seems to be my best shots so far for this tiny/rare birds.

The spoon-billed sandpiper (Calidris pygmaea) is a small wader which breeds on the coasts of the Bering Sea and winters in Southeast Asia. This species is highly threatened, and it is said that since the 1970s the breeding population has decreased significantly. By 2000, the estimated breeding population of the species was 350–500 (ref: wiki).
