Bryde's Whale 2026

I had the opportunity to join the annual Canon x FotoFile wildlife documentary photography trip. The speaker was Kong, Baramee Tembunkeat (Around the Way), who shared his knowledge of wildlife documentary photography and provided various techniques to the participants. Overall, it was a very fun trip. We departed from Jeng Krua Chay Talay restaurant near Bang Khun Thian on a large boat with comfortable air-conditioned cabins. However, because the whales are currently feeding in the Phetchaburi province area, the journey took a little longer than usual. Personally, I've only photographed Bryde's whales once before, last year, but that time I mostly only managed to get shots of their tails and dorsal fins because they wouldn't open their mouths to eat. This time, I got my revenge and captured many shots of them with their mouths open. For this trip, I used my newly acquired Canon R3 paired with lenses borrowed from the shop. This is the legendary RF 600mm F4 L lens. It was so much fun to shoot with.
